Wuhan Puren Hospital is located at No.1 Benxi Street, Qingshan District, Wuhan City, Hubei Province, founded in 1955, is a Grade 3A comprehensive hospital integrating medical treatment, prevention, scientific research, teaching and rehabilitation, and is a designated hospital for Wuhan health insurance. On September 21, 2020, it was named as an advanced collective in Hubei Province for fighting against the new crown pneumonia epidemic. On November 28, 2023, the Wuhan Municipal Health Commission of Hubei Province issued a circular: it has suspended the qualification of Wuhan Puren Hospital in issuing birth medical certificates.
Wuhan Puren Hospital, founded in 1955 and located at No. 1 Benxi Street, Qingshan District, Wuhan City, Hubei Province, is a comprehensive tertiary-level hospital integrating medical treatment, prevention, scientific research, teaching, and rehabilitation. It is an affiliated hospital of Wuhan University of Science and Technology. The hospital has a complete range of departments and handles over one million outpatient visits annually. It is a national "Chest Pain Center," "Heart Failure Center," "Stroke Center," and a "Baby-Friendly Hospital" [1]. In 2020, the hospital was recognized as an advanced collective in Hubei Province for its efforts in combating the COVID-19 pandemic [2]. In 2023, the hospital was investigated for issues related to surrogacy, and its authority to issue birth certificates was suspended [7]. In 2024, it was fined for medical management issues.
This PCR laboratory construction project was initiated in 2019 to meet the growing demand for molecular diagnostic testing. The facility is designed to biosafety level II (BSL-2) standards with separate zones for specimen processing, nucleic acid extraction, amplification, and analysis to prevent contamination.
Initial planning and design phase completed by Deiiang Company. Includes architectural layout, workflow design for PCR process (pre-PCR, PCR, post-PCR areas), biosafety planning, and equipment placement.
Structural modifications to existing hospital space. Includes wall demolition, new partition construction, ceiling adjustments, and preparation of service penetrations for utilities.
Installation of clean room panels, ceilings with sealed lighting fixtures, airtight doors with viewing windows, and pass-through chambers. All surfaces designed for easy cleaning and decontamination.
Installation of dedicated heating, ventilation, and air conditioning system with HEPA filtration. Maintains positive/negative pressure gradients between different laboratory zones to prevent cross-contamination.
Installation of dedicated exhaust system for biological safety cabinets, fume hoods, and general laboratory exhaust. Includes HEPA filtration at exhaust points and proper discharge away from air intakes.
Installation of seamless epoxy flooring with chemical resistance and anti-static properties. Flooring includes integrated coving at wall junctions to eliminate corners and facilitate cleaning.
Installation of laboratory-grade plumbing including pure water system, emergency eyewash stations, handwashing sinks, and chemical-resistant drainage with proper traps and vents.
Installation of dedicated electrical circuits, UPS systems, emergency power, laboratory-grade outlets, and specialized lighting. Includes data cabling for laboratory equipment and computer networks.
Installation and calibration of PCR laboratory equipment including biological safety cabinets, centrifuges, thermal cyclers, real-time PCR instruments, nucleic acid extractors, and freezers.
Comprehensive testing of all systems including air cleanliness validation, pressure differential verification, HEPA filter integrity testing, equipment calibration, and workflow validation.
This project was handled by our experienced cleanroom construction team, which consisted of 5 project managers, 15 engineers, and 40 skilled workers. All members hold relevant certifications and have received professional cleanroom construction training, ensuring project quality and timely completion.
